United Way 2009 Campaign Surpasses the Goal of $467,000                                                                                                                 Ronan Sramek, Sunflower Bank and 2009 United Way Campaign Chair, announced on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, that the 2009 campaign goal had been surpassed.  Sramek remarked, "Despite economic downturns and financial strains in 2009, we can close this calendar year with a tremendous success for the community in reaching and superseding the goal.  It is my pleasure to announce to the Ellis County community that as of this morning we have exceeded our $467,000 goal with total dollars raised of $469,709.  On behalf of the local United Way board, executive director and our member agencies, I thank the entire community for digging deep this year and combining your monetary gifts to make this possible for the 8th year in a row". He continued, "As other United Ways in Kansas struggle meeting monetary goals, we in Ellis County can celebrate with pride.  We really get it here!  We understand the importance of community.  We understand the interconnectedness of all people in a community.  One business can not thrive without another thriving.  One person can not live life fully without sharing his/her gifts with others around them.  The well-being of this community relies on a compassionate people, working and living together who approach each sunrise knowing that how they live out today will influence their outlook on the sunset tomorrow.  Community matters!  We choose to live united here in Ellis County and will continue to do so, creating a better county through hard work and dedication to improving lives within our communities. "
